The Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot, for the Vernon-North Okanagan, is looking for some of the requirements that will allow the employers to appoint many more employees that are starting from December 1.
This pilot program was first inaugurated in February 2020; from that time, it received 21 applications in total, out of which 19 applications were accepted.
The RNIP program for the Vernon-North Okanagan began with the conservative eligibility criteria to assure that the association is able to regulate the probable demand and is now promoting some of the requirements to allow for the community’s local economy to rise.
What are the changes?
Reduction in the minimum wage rate has been coming down to $23 from $25 each hour. Some of the important changes will help employers in appointing more and more employees.
Moreover, individuals who have been working, studying, and residing in a locality for a minimum of six months are discharged from their eligibility criteria as their present wage rate is between 18 and 22.99 dollars each hour, and their minimum score must be 30 points in the community point system.
Points have been increased mainly for those Applicants who have studied and worked in the community. Those candidates with work experience of a minimum of six months in the community will be eligible to receive 15 points now from 10. And for those candidates who have taken education in the community for a minimum of two years from the past five years will be eligible to receive 10 points up from six.
Points for the Candidates with immediate family in the community have also been increased. Applicants will be entitled to receive three points, an increase from two, for every adult immediate family member residing in the community for a minimum of six months. But now the points that the applicants will receive after having the immediate family member have now been moved to the nine up from the eight.
There are several points’ reductions also in the community criteria. Candidates are now entitled to receive up to 10 points for the work experience outside the community, reduced from the maximum of 15 points. Changes in the point system are also based on applicants’ age. Those under the 25 years of will only be benefited from this change; hence, they will be entitled to receive three points rather than two.
