The Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP) is a program which selects highly skilled, experienced workers to get Permanent Residency in Canada. For this program you should apply with express Entry system. It is simplest and as for now the fastest way to permanently immigrate to Canada. To be eligible you should meet the following criteria:
- You should have at least 1 year of full time job experience in the applying occupation in the past 10 years.
- Your occupation should be Skill Type 0 (managerial occupation), Skill Level 1 (Professional occupation), Skill Level B (Technical occupation and skill trade)
- Earn at least 67 points on skill assessment
- A full time job offer letter from a Canadian employer and qualify with LMIA (Labour Market Impact Assessment)
- Language proficiency score to the CLB 7 in either English or French
- Having sufficient funds to settle in Canada
Right now the process for immigrating to Canada as a skilled worker is as following:
– Create an Express Entry profile, apply as skilled worker
– Your Express Entry profile will be scores on Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS)
– You will be competing on a pool with other candidate and specific numbers of applicants which vary each time with higher score will get an Invitation of Apply (ITA) for permanent resident of Canada.
– Fulfill the health and character clearance, other security checks and submit an application for approval to Canada immigration.
– A visa officer will review your profile and approve it if everything you submit is based on truth
– pay the permanent residency fee and request for your passport
Skill assessment works base on following scoring system:
– Age up to 12 points ( ages 18-35 has the highest score).
– Education up to 25 points ( PhD has the highest score).
– Language up to 24 points ( CLB 9 has the highest points).
– Work experience up to 15 points ( 6 years or more has the highest points).
– Arranged employment has 10 points
– Adaptability points
— Work experience in Canada minimum of one year has 10 points.
— Work experience of spouse/partner in Canada has 5 points.
— Principal applicant or accompanying spouse/partner study in Canada has 10 points.
— Having a blood relative in Canada who is permanent resident has 5 points.
— Language of spouse/partner CLB 4 or higher has 5 points.
Every year there is a list of jobs that are in high demand and your applying occupation should be in those categories to be eligible for FSWP. You can obtain that list by visiting CIC website.
As a single person you need 12669 Canadian dollar as minimum required fund and for each additional member you need 3414 dollar to prove you have sufficient money to settle in Canada, for more details start filling the assessment form.
Due to its nature at this time it takes 6 month or less for FSWP applicant to get their application processed. There is also Application process fees of 550$ for main applicant and 350$ for spouse/partner and 190$ for children to pay.
